French bulldog puppies are some of the most popular breeds due to their friendly and outgoing personalities. However, they can also be quite expensive due to the effort required to breed and care for them properly.

Natural mating is usually not possible due to their body structure. In those cases, we need to use artificial insemination to get the job done. To determine when the female is ready for insemination, we conduct progesterone tests, which cost around $200.

Once inseminated, the mama needs to have regular ultrasounds to confirm the pregnancy. We also give her folic acid supplementation to prevent cleft palates. The pregnancy period requires close monitoring because French bulldogs are prone to birthing difficulties. Most litters require a C-section, and this can be expensive, ranging from $2,000-$3,800.

After the birth, it’s a 24/7 hustle to keep the mom and puppies healthy and safe. We take them for vet checkups, provide them with food, toys, and comfortable bedding. When you add everything up, preparing for and raising a litter of well-bred French bulldogs can cost upwards of $4,500-$5,000!

The bottom line: top-quality French Bulldogs come at a higher cost because as breeders, we put in countless hours of love and attention to every litter, and also quite a bit of cash.

French bulldogs are pretty clean pups, so you won’t have to give them baths all the time. Just wait until they get visibly dirty to give them a scrub.  When it comes time to suds up, don’t just use any old shampoo. Frenchies can be sensitive to certain ingredients and may have allergies that show up as skin issues, so it’s best to get a shampoo that’s recommended by your vet.

And here’s a tip: when you’re washing your Frenchie, make sure to avoid getting their face wet. Their adorable little folds can trap moisture and cause infections. After the bath, be sure to lift up those folds and check for any irritation. If you notice anything funky, you can use some dog-friendly baby wipes to clean ’em up.

If you live in a humid area, you’ll want to be extra careful with those face folds. You can use Wrinkle Paste or coconut oil to protect them and keep them fresh.  Keep an eye out for redness or hotspots on their skin – that could be a sign of an allergic reaction. If you notice anything unusual, it’s best to chat with your vet.

You’ll also want to keep up with their toes…those nails grow fast! To prevent overgrowth, splitting, and cracking, make sure to trim them regularly with a nail clipper or grinder.

Next, those adorable bat ears need a little TLC. Give ’em a regular check to make sure there’s no buildup of wax or debris – that stuff can lead to an infection.

And finally, don’t forget those pearly whites! Just like us humans, pups need their teeth brushed too. So make sure to brush their teeth regularly to keep ’em healthy and clean.

French Bulldogs can be a little stubborn when it comes to potty training, but don’t worry! Just be patient and consistent. If you’re having trouble, you can try using puppy pee pads until they get the hang of going outside. But trust me, once they figure it out, they’ll be great!

Remember, crates should never be used as punishment. They should be a cozy little den where your pup feels safe and relaxed. Many dogs love their crates and use them as a nap spot even when the door is open. Just make sure the crate is the right size for your pup – big enough to move around in, but not too big that they can make a mess in one corner and sleep in the other.

It’s important to get your puppy on a schedule and stick to it. Consistency is key! Also, make sure to take them to the same spot outside every time they need to potty. And if they have an accident inside, don’t scold them – they won’t understand. Just clean it up and try again later.

Finally, remember that cute puppy behavior might not be so cute when they’re all grown up. So start good habits early and be consistent with all training. Your French Bulldog will thank you for it!

Even though Frenchies may enjoy playing with a hose and chasing water, they are not great swimmers and should not be allowed near pools, hot tubs, or other bodies of water unattended.

During the hot summer, you may want to consider using a baby pool filled halfway so they can play safely without any risks. However, it’s important to keep them away from anything deeper than that.

If you want to take them to a pool area, lake, river, or on a boat, make sure they have their own life jackets that fit well and are secured properly on their little body.

Congratulations on your decision to bring a Frenchie into your home! Here are some supplies you may want to consider purchasing:

  1. Crate: A crate can provide a safe and comfortable space for your puppy to rest and sleep in. It can also be used as a tool for housetraining.
  2. Food and water bowls: Choose bowls that are the appropriate size for your puppy and made of a durable, easy-to-clean material.
  3. High-quality puppy food: Look for a high-quality, breed-specific puppy food that meets your Frenchie’s nutritional needs. We prefer Royal Canin for French Bulldog puppies.
  4. Collar and leash: A collar with identification tags and a leash are important for keeping your puppy safe and under control when out and about.
  5. Chew toys: Frenchies love to chew, so having a variety of safe chew toys can help prevent destructive chewing and provide mental stimulation.
  6. Grooming supplies: A soft-bristled brush, nail clippers, and ear cleaning solution are essential for keeping your Frenchie’s coat, nails, and ears healthy and clean.
  7. Bedding: A comfortable bed can provide a cozy place for your puppy to sleep and rest.
  8. Treats: Treats are great for training and rewarding good behavior. Look for high-quality, nutritious treats that are appropriate for puppies.
  9. Training supplies: Training pads, clickers, and treat pouches can help make training your Frenchie easier and more effective.
  10. Health supplies: Have a first aid kit on hand in case of emergencies, and make sure to keep up with your Frenchie’s vaccinations and regular veterinary check-ups.

We have a few pieces of advice for new puppy owners:

  1. Be patient: Puppies require a lot of attention and training, and it can take time for them to learn and adjust to their new environment.
  2. Establish a routine: Creating a routine for feeding, sleeping, and potty breaks can help your puppy feel secure and comfortable in their new home.
  3. Socialize your puppy: Introduce your puppy to new people, places, and other animals to help them develop confidence and positive social skills.
  4. Be consistent with training: Frenchies are stubborn, and consistency is key when it comes to training your puppy. Use positive reinforcement techniques and be patient with them as they learn.
  5. Provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation: Puppies have a lot of energy and need regular exercise and playtime to stay healthy and happy. Provide them with toys, puzzles, and activities to keep their minds stimulated.
  6. Take care of their health: Regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and preventative care are important to keep your puppy healthy and prevent future health issues.
  7. Be prepared for unexpected expenses: Puppies can be unpredictable and accidents can happen. Be prepared for unexpected expenses, such as emergency vet visits or unexpected medical treatments.
  8. Enjoy the journey: Having a puppy is a lot of work, but it is also a lot of fun and incredibly rewarding!
